I bought the Bobcat from a friend of a friend for $25.00. I really wanted it, but not really for bowling purposes. It was more for my collection than anything else. I got the ball and had it redrilled for my hand. It turned out to be a fairly good oily lane urethane ball. So I decided to use it. Now here is the funny story. In 1996 at the ABC Nationals I took only three balls. Two reactive resin balls and one urethane ball. I decided to take the Bobcat for my urethane ball because at the time I was very confortable using it. So I took it. At check in I threw my balls up on the scale and the director told me that my Bobcat weighed too much. The ABC rules state that any ball over 16 pounds is an illegal ball. "How much does it weigh," I asked. "16.04 pounds," the directore replied. My ball weighed four hundreths of a pound too much. Whomever drilled my ball at the pro shop didn't weigh it to check its legalities. Anyway, I had to take the ball upstairs and have some weight drilled out of it for it to be legal. I ended up screwing up the tounament anyway but I did get some humor out of it. The ball is still the heaviest one I own at 15.98 pounds(after drilling). I also recently aquired nother Bobcat from a bowling alley in Oregon. It is 15 pounds and in better shape than the first.
